Who we are

All young people deserve a fair chance to thrive.

JOI Foundation partners across Africa to expand access to education and opportunity—so talent isn't blocked by circumstance. Through scholarships, mentorship, and practical skills training, we help young people gain the confidence, networks, and resources to succeed.

Purpose

Why JOI exists

JOI is an acronym for Justus Obinna Iwu, a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, friend, and colleague whose life was cut short by gun violence. He had a profound desire to serve the world. After traveling to Nigeria and witnessing the plight of many, he returned with a dream to help the less fortunate build a better future for themselves and generations to come.
